Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark joined the Global Geopark Network since October 3th, 2010. After receiving these honors, Ha Giang had rushed to organize activities to raise awareness for local residents and visitors about park geology.
With many different forms and promotion, the Geopark Management Board has provided knowlege of the geoheritage, tourism and geopark for those interested. In particular, the board had opened many training courses on geopark for local residents and brought some the information of geopark to the school.
Results from the propaganda, broadcast by the Management Board was initially made change the perception of local residents, tourists, organizations, units and the support of the local authorities in building and developing Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark. With this understanding, a sense of community in preserving and protecting the geoheritages, culturalheritages of the geopark was improved. The exploitation of natural resources was strictly controlled, to minimize the adverse impacts on the natural environment. The locals were more conscious in forming, subsistence and tourism activities in protecting landscapes
